Canada in Winter: Illecillewaet River and the Mountains of Rogers Pass

Recently I was in Canada’s westernmost province of British Columbia in the middle of winter, powering my 4×4 SUV through ice and snow, climbing higher and higher into the sky along the Illecillewaet River aiming to head over Rogers Pass so I could make my way further eastward into the Canadian Rocky Mountains and Banff National Park in the neighboring province of Alberta. Not only was I marveling at how my cup of steaming hot coffee was icing up around the rim, the scenery was absolutely incredible! As you can imagine, I just had to stop and get a few shots…

Canada’s British Columbia is absolutely beautiful in wintertime. This view of the Illecillewaet River looking eastward towards the incredible rocky peaks of Rogers Pass was taken on a bitterly cold January morning, just north of Revelstoke, BC.
